4 C’s of Graphic Design:

Giving users a good experience regardless of the platform they use is key to successful cross-platform design! It is your responsibility as a UX designer to ensure that your designs account for and fully use each platform’s distinctive capacities.

It’s beneficial to keep the 4C’s in mind while creating a cross-platform design:

  • Consistency
  • Continuity
  • Context
  • Complementary

1. Consistency:

The majority of businesses have certain design standards that must be followed in order to maintain brand identity, which describes a company’s visual identity and voice. To maintain consistency across all platforms and raise brand awareness, it is crucial to develop products that follow the company’s brand requirements. Users may expect the design to feel recognizable across all platforms and products, which enhances the user experience and helps to further trust.

2. Continuity:

Designers must also pay attention to continuity to give users a seamless experience as they switch across platforms. When a design is compatible, users can carry over their progress from one platform to the next. Even though the user interfaces on each platform may differ differently, the product’s functionality should still be connected. Users may become disturbed if their experience does not progress consistently across platforms if there is no continuity.

3. Context:

Additionally, it’s important to take the context of each platform you’re creating for into account. This requires considering the best times and methods for users to interact with various features across various platforms.

4. Complementary:

Making sure that each platform’s design provides the user something fresh is one method to produce a fantastic cross-platform user experience.
